Principles and rights
“All members of the school community have the right to work and socialize in a safe, pleasant and happy environment.”
This includes a clean and tidy environment.
It is our goal to create a litter-free school.
We should recycle waste wherever possible.
We should see these aims as applying beyond the school gate, to the community around the school.
All members of the school community have the right to suggest ways to improve the school environment.
School snack litter should be disposed of in the appropriate bin.
Responsibilities
All members of the school community have a responsibility:
· Not to create litter;
· To use recycling facilities where appropriate;
· To pick up litter which is lying around.
-To support each other’s efforts to deal with litter problems.
· To ensure adequate waste bins are provided;
· To listen and respond positively where possible to suggestions to improve the various environments;
· To ensure that anti-litter education is part of the school curriculum
And then we adopted the following rules:
2. If you see someone dropping litter ask them to put it in the bin!
3. If you pick up litter, wash your hands.
4.Don’t touch anything that’s sharp, like glass or metal!
5. Recycle paper and fruit waste!
6. Avoid paper space waste

TAKEOVER DAY
This Friday was a bit of a different day for the pupils of Trekenner Primary School for today they took over the school!!
With the help of nine Year 9 students from Callington Community College the young people put together a timetable of subjects that they wanted to learn. This included Playground games, making a mosaic, making dreamcatchers, food art, painting and drama.
Mr Reardon said “The children chose the subjects and today is about taking it one step further and actually doing them, hopefully making the day fun.”
The mosaic activity was led by Mrs Sheppard with help from Corinna and Charlotte. This involved sticking lots of little pieces of paper together to form a picture. Some of the mosaics produced were of stars while others made Christmas trees. Everyone said that the really enjoyed it. Jenny was really good at it and her star was really good.
This proved to be a very popular activity until the heavy rain came and it became indoor games!! Led brilliantly by Kieran and Marcus , the children played a series of games such as stuck in the mud, beat the bomb, catching the cabbage and a rather energetic game that was a cross between football, netball and handball. Corey was the best at this.
The dreamcatcher activity was led by Ms Ward in the morning and by Mrs Cayzer after lunch. They were assisted by Emily and winnie. Making a dreamcatcher looked really hard with lots of wool threading and attaching beads and feathers. All of the children managed to produce some fantastic work and they all seemed to really enjoy this activity.
DRAMA
The Drama activity was led by Mr Plunkett, assisted by Amber, Lucy and Olivia. The pupils took part in various Drama activities such as Chinese whispers, freeze frames and name games. They all had to produce a short performance about taking control of the school. This included thinking of any improvements that they would bring to the school. Phil suggested getting games consoles in the classrooms. What a brilliant idea. Mr Reardon please take note!!!
PLAYGROUND GAMES
MOSAIC
Led by Mr Reardon and Marie this activity was very popular with the children. The paintings were of aboriginal artwork which were painted using a variety of styles and tools such as cotton buds!
The food art activity involved painting biscuits using different coloured icing. They all looked very yummy!!
