Dear Parents

The weather has finally changed for the better and become very warm.  Please could all children have named sunhats in school at all times.  We would also suggest that suncream should be applied before school for protection.

The school has recently updated the computers for the classrooms which we are very pleased with.

To help reduce the cost of the trip, we would like parents to take their children to Hidden   Valley for , where they will be registered.  Children can be collected at .  We are happy to have siblings at the school early, or keep them after school until parents arrive if needed.  If any parents think that they may have problems with this arrangement, please advise us as soon as possible.  We will arrange for maps to be sent out for directions.

A contribution of £2 per child towards the admission fee will help cover the costs.

Each child will need clothing suitable for outside activities, including footwear – no open toe sandals.  Children will also need a packed lunch and a drink.  If you have paid for school dinners in advance, we can arrange a packed lunch.  Please ask for a form from the office.  Permission slips will be sent home shortly.

The Body Shop Party the other night was another success!  We made £71.15!  Thank you to Sue as the host and parents and staff who bought – made it an easy fundraiser and jolly evening to boot!

Our 70’s Disco Night at Treburley Club last Saturday was fantastic!  Thank you to everyone from school and the local community who turned up, decorated the hall and made food.  Stefan Heale was a fantastic DJ – costume, choice of music – well done!  Practically everybody dressed up and there were some phenomenal costumes from punks to hippies . . . even some local lads dressed up as a 118 advert (!?!).  We made a very healthy £155 this night.  Our best dressed winners were Debbie Ashcroft on 1st place and closely followed by Zoey Rawlinson as runner up.

We have been informed by fones4school that our collection date should finish on 13th June not the 20th so everyone can get their prizes in time before the end of term.  Please make sure any bags of phones given in at the office have a name on them so we know who the prize is for!

Our next event we will be planning is our Summer Fayre, so if anyone has any ideas they would like to bring to the next meeting please do.  If you can’t come and you have an idea then do feel free to contact Marcelle on 01566 782243 or e-mail marcellemoriarty@btinternet.com.

SPORT:

FOOTBALL:  On Wednesday we sent a mixed team to Launceston College for a Year 4 & 5 tournament.   Congratulations to the eight children who represented the school at the 5-a-side tournament.  We came a very creditable third after winning all our matches until we played Coads Green in the semi-final and lost 2 – 1 in a closely fought contest.  Well done to all our players  - James, Aaron P, Ryan H, Eoin, Alice, Matilda, Esme and Yasmin.  Thank you also to Mrs Puffett and Mrs De Barr for taking the children.

We will be playing away against Lewannick on Wednesday 14th May.  Permission slips for this match are enclosed with the newsletter.  There is also a match arranged against Egloskerry – permission slips for this match will be sent out shortly.
