Dear Parents

On Monday, as part of World Book Week, we were visited by Trevor Lawrence, who bought us his ‘Droll Tales’.  The children thoroughly enjoyed his stories and participating with the musical instruments.  Today we welcomed Emma Stone to the school.

On Wednesday 19th March, we will be holding our Easter Egg activities – weather permitting.  All families and friends are invited and I look forward to seeing you on the day.

May I take this opportunity of wishing you a happy Easter and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 8th April.

Launceston & District Twinning Association

During the last 25 years Launceston has been very successfully twinned with Plestin-Les-Greves, in France.  This is a small town in Southern Brittany, by the coast, about one hour from the ferry port of Roscoff.

Each year the twinning Association exchanges visits for a weekend, hosting and staying with a French family.  Many good friendships have been built up over the past 25 years, and the weekends are always educational and fun.

The success of the association depends on the continuation of new families interested in developing links with another country.  If you would like to find out more about the Launceston & District Association, please phone any of the numbers below or write to Phil Honey, Penmarech, Trebullett, Launceston PL15 9QA

Thank you to everyone who came to the Wine & Wisdom evening.  We made £150!  Steve Wild was a fantastic quizmaster, we had lovely raffle prizes donated and Laura once again came up trumps with her beautiful hand painted trophies.

Our “Around the World” competition to win a bike built to your specifications is now under way in the library.  Have as many goes as you like!  It’s £1 a go.  Please pay at school office.  The winning entry will be drawn at the Easter Egg Hunt.

Our Easter Egg Hunt is on Sunday 16.3.08 starting at 2pm from East Penrest Farm  (£1 entry for each child) and finishing at the Treburley Club for a BBQ (if fine!).   Every child completing the hunt will receive an Easter egg. Directions to farm are as follows from school:  Go to junction at top of Trekenner, turn right towards Trebullett, farm is approx 1/2 mile on left.  There is parking available here.  This promises to be a great family day out.  Wear your wellies!   Donations of Easter Eggs will be gratefully received please before the hunt if you can deliver them to the school office.  Thank you!

Next PTA meeting is on Thursday, 13th March 7.30pm at school

Easter Activities

On Wednesday 19th March, at 2.30pm we are hoping (weather permitting) to hold our Easter Egg activities to which parents, friends and families, are invited. This year we shall be having:

Egg rolling for the whole school – this will take place at 2.30pm.  All children who want to take part will need a hard boiled chicken’s egg.  The decorated eggs can be used if you wish, or additional eggs can be brought from home.

Decorated Egg Competition:  This is open to every child to enter ONE CHICKEN SIZE EGG.

Class 1 will be decorating their egg at school on Monday afternoon.

Class 2A will be decorating their egg on Monday morning and years 5 & 6 will be decorating their eggs on Tuesday afternoon.  Please could all children bring in a hard boiled egg by Monday at the very latest.

If you have craft items that your child wishes to bring in to supplement those in school, please do so.

Eggashute Class 2 are also invited to design a parachute at home which will enable their egg to be dropped from a height and land without breaking!  The eggs should be hard boiled, and at least half of the egg should be visible (i.e. no padding around the egg to stop it breaking!)

Parents will be able to take their children home when all the activities are finished.
