Dear Parents

Welcome back to the second half of the spring term.  I hope you all enjoyed the break and the wonderful weather.

We were very disappointed that the roadworks outside the school caused so much disturbance when we had been assured that the disruption would be minimal.  Unfortunately, the situation was out of our control.  The contractors were made aware of our concerns and hopefully it didn’t cause too much inconvenience.

We are pleased to inform you that Mrs Cayzer, Mrs Collings and Mrs Judge have just returned from a successful visit to Paris organised through Cornwall County Council and the European Union.  The course was a cultural experience which will enable the teachers to be prepared for when French will be taught as part of the curriculum.

We are also looking for donations of raffle prizes.  Please hand them in to the office or bring them along on the night.  Thank you.

We have been offered a free child’s bike to raffle!  We are having a “Around the World” competition whereby one flag purchased from the “Map of the World” will qualify your entry!  One flag costs £1 and you can have as many goes as you like!  The raffle stickers to put on the flags will be available from the school office or see a PTA member.  The raffle will start tomorrow evening and will be drawn at the Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, 16.3.08.  The winner will have the bike built to their specifications.

Our Easter Egg Hunt is on Sunday 16.3.08 starting at 2pm from East Penrest Farm and finishing at the Treburley Club for a BBQ. This promises to be a great family day out.  We are looking for donations of Easter eggs for the children whom complete the hunt which can be handed in at school.  More details to follow.

Easter Activities

On Wednesday 19th March, at 2.30pm we are hoping (weather permitting) to hold our Easter Egg activities to which parents, friends and families, are invited. This year we shall be having:

Egg rolling for the whole school – this will take place at 2.30pm.  All children who want to take part will need a hard boiled chicken’s egg.  The decorated eggs can be used if you wish, or additional eggs can be brought from home.

Decorated Egg Competition:  This is open to every child to enter ONE CHICKEN SIZE EGG.

Class 1 will be decorating their egg at school on Monday.  If you have craft items that your child wishes to bring in to supplement those in school, please do so.

Class 2 will be decorating their egg during the week.  Please bring in a hard boiled egg by Tuesday at the very latest.

Eggashute Class 2 are also invited to design a parachute at home which will enable their egg to be dropped from a height and land without breaking!  The eggs should be hard boiled, and at least half of the egg should be visible (i.e. no padding around the egg to stop it breaking!)

Parents will be able to take their children home when all the activities are finished.
